This month Ride2Win are fundraising for Papyrus charity, which is a cause I hold close to my heart. The fundraiser will be taking donations until 25th July, Ellie's birthday. She would have been 24 this year and I still think of her every day.
Meet my Ellie
This is Ellie Soutter, my daughter. She was really something special.
Like many young people her age she dealt with her own mental struggles, but she was also a top UK snowboarding athlete and well on her journey to compete at the highest level for the GB.
She took her own life on her 18th birthday in a remote woodland in France
Keeping Ellie's Memory Alive
I made a video with Papyrus, where I talk a little bit about Ellie and how Papyrus have helped me keep her memory alive, and how her death has given me a platform and motivation to help others like her.
If you would like to make a donation on my Just Giving page, click this button. It's a quick, easy and safe platform to show your support and all donations go directly to Papyrus.
If you are a tax payer in the UK please Gift Aid your donations, which can add an extra 25% to your donation at no extra cost. It just helps that little bit extra to boost our total.
Who are Papyrus?
Papyrus is a charity focused on preventing young suicide. They support young people through promoting positive mental health and providing access to resources to deal with mental distress.
They have a helpline, open to all young people who need to talk about their experiences and feelings. They also help those of us left behind with bereavement as we struggle to cope with the loss of a loved one.
Check out the Papyrus website for more information on how your donation will assist them in saving young lives.
What you can do to help
Every donation, no matter how small will go towards helping young people, like Ellie, and help them to avoid suicide.
